به نقل از روزنامه رای الیوم، منابع دیپلماتیک عمان اعلام کردند، مسئولان بلندپایه عمانی پیام ویژه ای را برای اردن ارسال کردند با این مضمون که چنانچه متن بیانیه پایانی نشست سران عرب در امان موجب بروز مشکل و تنگنا شود، عذرخواسته و سطح حضور خود را در این نشست را کاهش می دهند.
هرچند در این پیام توضیح داده نشده است که منظور از متنی که باعث بروز تنگنا میشود چیست، اما بنابر اعلام منابع آگاه به نظر میرسد این موضوع مربوط به مواضع افراطی عربستان علیه جمهوری اسلامی ایران باشد.
برداشت این منابع از پیام مسقط این است که با این کار از قبل به اردن اعلام کرده است، چنانچه متن بیانیه پایانی نشست سران عرب در اردن شامل اتهام زنی علیه ایران به حمایت از تروریسم در منطقه و یا دعوت به قطع رابطه با آن باشد، بهتر میداند سطح حضور خود را در آن کاهش دهد.
عمان در توضیح این موضع اعلام کرده است، مسقط نمیخواهد موجب ناراحتی و در تنگنا قرار گرفتن هیچ طرفی باشد و چنانچه برخی کشورهای برادر بر مواضع افراطی خود در قبال پرونده ایران پافشاری کنند، فقط به کاهش سطح حضور خود در نشست سران متوسل خواهد شد.
این در حالی است که عمان و کویت به طور غیرمستقیم حامی گفتوگوی با ایران به عنوان کشور همسایه و با در نظر گرفتن منافع متقابل هستند.
در این میان برخی منابع آگاه اعلام کردند، سفر غیرمنتظره ملک عبدالله دوم پادشاه اردن به مغرب با تاکید امان بر حضور رهبران عرب در سطح هرچه بالاتر در نشست سران ارتباط دارد زیرا اردن حضور رهبران و روسای جمهورعرب در این نشست را خواستار است.
